More about this item

This is a live Succulent Plant in a 2-inch nursery pot with soil (the plastic saucer shown in the photo is not included).

The plant is commonly called Rainbow Bush because the little leaves can show a rainbow of colors from red to pink to cream to green, and the stems can get red in sun also. It is a variegated form of Elephant Bush.

The scientific name is Portulacaria Afra Variegata.

Portulacaria Afra is a succulent, so likes some sun and not too much water (although it likes a little more water than some other succulents). It is called Elephant Bush because it is the primary food of elephants on the African savannah, and gets quite big when grown in its natural environment.  As a potted plant it will not get too large (and it grows fairly slowly).  It has pretty green and red stems and bright green leaves (the variegated form has white and pink edging to the leaves). It will grow additional stems and can get more "bush-like" over time. If it gets too tall, it is easy to trim the ends and push them back into the soil to start new branches.
