More about this item

This is a Live Bromeliad Plant - a Red Earth Star or Cryptanthus Bivittatus 'Red Star'. The plant is shipped with soil in a 3 inch pot as shown.

This plant can also be planted in any of the planters in my other listings - send me a message or custom order for pricing if you would like it shipped in a planter. Otherwise, it will ship in the plastic nursery pot as shown.

Cryptanthus are great as houseplants by themselves, or as colorful additions to a terrarium. They prefer regular watering but also can tolerate drought quite well. They like humidity so misting is appreciated although not necessary (they would be very happy in a bathroom environment). They do well in moderate, indirect light. More light will bring out more of the pink/red tones in the leaves. They are quite slow growing, very easy-going houseplants.

This Cryptanthus "Red Star" variety has leaves that are striped in various shades of bright reddish-pink.
