This is a beautiful hand-painted large Chinese ginger jar, probably antique. It is most likely from the late 19th or early 20th century.
Size: about 14 inches tall (to top of lid).
The hand-painted design shows the traditional 8 Immortals (7 around the jar itself, and 1 painted on the lid), which are a legendary group in Chinese mythology. They are considered to be signs of prosperity and longevity, so were a popular subject for decorative home items such as this ginger jar.
This jar has no markings or signature. There is the remains of a label that looks like it was from a gallery or auction at one time. I don't have any history on the piece.
I am unable to identify a maker or artist. It clearly has quite some age.
In excellent vintage condition, with no chips or cracks.
